PD Frontline aims to put people with Parkinson’s Disease at the forefront of research. This is an exciting new era for Parkinson’s research. For the first time, drugs that protect against or slow down the progression of Parkinson’s Disease are a real possibility. Many of these drugs will be targeted at specific genes which we know influence the development of Parkinson’s Disease.
To test whether these drugs work, we will need to identify people with abnormalities in these genes who can be enrolled in clinical trials. PD Frontline enables you to be tested for two genetic risk factors for Parkinson’s, called GBA1 and LRRK2. This is done online and by post, so you won’t need to visit a hospital.
Sequencing of the GBA1 and LRRK2 genes using a saliva or blood sample.
Join PD Frontline to be part of a registry of thousands of people with PD.
Genetic sequencing through PD Frontline may make you eligible for clinical trials and studies.

If you live in the UK, are aged between 18 and 90 years old, and have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, you can register for PD Frontline. It will take around 10 minutes.
The sample will then be sequenced, and you will receive your results in a detailed report.
You may be contacted in the future to provide a sample if these eligibility criteria change. Further details can be found on our Patient Information Sheet (PIS).
Registration Guidance can be found here.
